When to Go
Horseriding safaris are available all year round in most of the counties in which we operate. Some wildlife sightings are seasonal, so it comes down to what you want to see and how experienced you are as a rider. Also keep in mind the seasons and whether you cope well with the heat or not – it has huge impact on your enjoyment factor.

Offbeat Kenya
Owner run and managed, this is exceptional horseriding safari material for experienced riders seeking adrenalin filled wildlife viewing in Kenya’s Masai Mara. Choose from small group or private horseiding safaris, day horseback safaris and mobile camping or lodge accommodation. Wait A Little
Not for the faint hearted, this owner run outfit offers fast paced and adrenalin rushing horse riding safaris for experienced riders. Gerti and Philip Kusseler are based in the Karongwe Private Game Reserve and offer three types of safaris which take guests to an enormous wilderness area of 35,000 hectares over five to ten days. Horses are exceptionally trained getting you just metres away from the big animals. Days are spent riding fantastic horses and you can be in the saddle for up to six hours using dressage saddles or long distance trail saddles on some of the horses. Okavango Horse Safaris

This is a mighty fine quality horse riding safari outfit in Kenya offering horseback safari adventure in either the Chyulu Hills or Amboseli. Chyulu Hills is for less experienced riders and families (Children 12 + can join if they are good riders) and offers beautiful scenery and terrain with plains game more dispersed, yet still exciting. The Amboseli horse riding safari is for experienced riders because it’s more challenging with savannahs and swamps teeming with large concentrations of wildlife from elephant, lion, buffalo to hyena and abundant plains game like zebra and giraffe. Botswana is bursting with beautiful landscapes to explore and one of our favourite horse riding guides, David Foot offers two different and very unique experiences for riders of all levels and all ages. First is the family and child friendly Thamalakane River Ride. Spend 2 to three nights in a lovely tented wilderness property on a private reserve just outside Botswana’s capital city and enjoy horseback safari and close encounters with giraffe, zebra and numerous species of antelope plus exploring the Thamalakane and Boteti Rivers. Great horses, wonderful tack and beautiful scenery. It’s not an abundant wildlife region, so for that you’re better off horse riding in the Delta proper which we will do next time.
