Horseback safaris are the ultimate way to combine the pleasure of riding with the thrill of an Africa safari. You explore the beauty and serenity of the African bush on horse back and get really close to wildlife.
On horseback, you become one with the environment – sharing the same sights, scents, sounds and excitement of the African wilderness. The human scent is masked by the horse, so you really do get remarkably close to the animals.
So if you are contemplating a horseriding safari, we can help. Catering to all riding levels, there are itineraries for beginner riders in wilderness areas with less predator dangers right through to holidays for the most advanced riders who can experience the ultimate horseriding safari getting close to Africa’s Big Five – lion, leopard, rhino, buffalo and elephant.
We work with the best horseriding camps that offer quality horses and tack plus outstanding guides who keep you safe and ensure your horseback safari holiday is truly remarkable for all the right reasons!
Accommodation varies depending on what style of riding and wilderness you seek, from traditional romantic and rugged fly camping to luxury tented camps and lodges.
A lifetime dream fulfilled and now we are all addicted. The horses were wonderfully responsive and safe, our friend who does not even ride was felt so safe he joined us on the second day. Imagine our delight when we spotted the newborn baby rhino and buffalo within meters of us.

An unforgettable four days exploring Manyara Ranch and the important wildlife corridor it resides in all on horseback! It was made all the more special by our wonderful, friendly, informative hosts who guided us around the property.
Thanks for a great holiday. David Foot was fantastic and an amazing horse riding safari guide in Botswana’s stunning Kalahari and Pan region. We saw zebra and wildebeest on the endless plains. Great horses, wonderful tack and beautiful scenery. It’s not an abundant wildlife region, so for that you’re better off horse riding in the Delta proper which we will do next time.
