From the landmark beaches of Clifton and Camps Bay to the vibrant V&A Waterfront, Greenmarket Square and Cape Town city centre – time spent in Cape Town and the West Coast will not be forgotten. Table Mountain is one of Southern Africa’s most beautiful and impressive natural wonders. It rises more than 3,500 feet above the city and its distinctive flat top is visible to sailors 65 kilometres out to sea. Take a guided walk on one of the many routes on top of the mountain or simply savor the breathtaking views. The famous Robben Island, whose prison was once home to former South African president Nelson Mandela as well as many other black political freedom fighters, is now a World Heritage Site and provides stunning views across the bay with Table Mountain as its backdrop. A trip to the island is an unforgettable experience and offers a glimpse into the life and times of the apartheid era.
The Cape Malay quarter, Bo-Kaap features colourful houses and historically significant landmarks and the District Six museum. Another must do is a scenic Cape Peninsula drive (self drive or tour) where you’ll savour stunning scenery from oceans to mountains and vineyards. Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens are spectacular in every season. These world-famous gardens showcase stunning Southern African flora in a magnificent setting, extending up the eastern slopes of Table Mountain and overlooking the sprawling city and the distant Hottentots Holland Mountains. Walking trails meander through the gardens and grassy banks are ideal for a picnic. In summer, catch one of the many evening concert events.
