The Safari Briefing
Experienced by David & Barbara.
This trip got the entire team really excited and ready to create an African masterpiece! With such a great amount of time, healthy budget and great adventurous spirit, this couple came to us seeking once in a lifetime experiences that traversed South Africa, Namibia, Botswana and then up to the Congo for a close encounter with lowland mountain gorillas and untouched paradise.
Key to a successful itinerary would be a diverse range of experiences and activities in beautiful locations, combining self drive, flying safaris, 4×4 safaris with game drives, walking safaris and boating plus accessing remote wilderness that few have seen.
The end result was outstanding and we are thrilled David and Barbara enjoyed every moment.
Remoteness of the Congo
It is hard to isolate one or two highlights – everything was great.
Namibia was something of a surprise to us. For such an arid country, the landscapes are amazingly varied and beautiful. Sossusvlei will forever remain in our minds and Serra Cafema was a welcome oasis of luxury in a seemingly empty desert.
Spending more than an hour watching wild dogs hunting in the Khwai concession in Botswana; seeing a klipspringer run up a near vertical cliff at Serra Cafema; having close encounters with gorillas in the Congo; spending an hour in close proximity to four elephants in a dry river bed in Damaraland; and cruising on the Chobe River are obvious highlights. The smaller, less iconic animals were also a delight, especially the immense variety of birds, seeing bat-eared foxes, dancing lizards in the Namib, mongoose doing their thing, bushbabies, palm civets, serval.
Once again many thanks for your work in getting us away on a great holiday.
